Soneela Nankani is a classically trained New York-based
actress. She has performed at many prestigious theaters including Classic
Stage Company, The Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Kansas City Repertory Theater,
The Vineyard Playhouse and Classical Theatre of Harlem. Her favorite theatre
roles include “Hermia” in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, “Shakuntala” in Shakuntala,
and “Moira” in Satchel Paige and The Kansas City Swing.
Soneela is an Associate Artist with the award-winning
ensemble theatre company Sojourn Theatre (recently featured in American
Theater magazine). She and the company won a Drammy award for the
show Seven Great Loves.
Soneela is also an accomplished film and television actress,
having recently appeared on The Mysteries of Laura, As the World Turns and
a commercial for Royal Caribbean. The film American Bomber, in
which she played Dr. Anshula Mehra, won the Mississippi International Film
Festival and also garnered awards at the Manhattan and Art of Brooklyn Film
Festivals. Her film All the Sunflowers was nominated last year for a
Golden Calf Award.
Currently Soneela is workshopping two plays: one with
Moisés Kaufman’s Tectonic Theater Project, and one that will be directed by
Broadway veteran and three-time Tony nominee Tonya Pinkins. She is also
narrating audiobooks, to date having narrated almost 40.
